The Pawn Shop lets you sell your assets instantly for a price close to their current market value.
Any assets sold to the Pawn Shop are gradually returned to the game through the Auction House over the next 48 hours.
Prices
The Pawn Shop price for an asset is based on the average amount that asset has recently sold for in the Auction House. Sales from player-created auctions are usually not included and the game may also limit the value with minimum and maximum price ranges.
The Pawn Shop will normally offer slightly less than the asset's full market value. This helps control inflation and also reflects the 10% transfer fee you would pay if you sold the asset through the Auction House or directly to another player.
Because of this, Pawn Shop prices can rise and fall depending on demand. In most cases, the amount you receive is close to what you would keep after selling to another player but you get the money instantly instead of waiting to find a buyer.
Frequent Questions
What's the purpose of the Pawn Shop?
The Pawn Shop is intended as a successor to limitless player-to-player trading, which sufferred from cheating and poor market balance.
It provides a fairer, more secure way to buy and sell assets. Items cannot be sold for real-world money or transferred between accounts owned by the same player, helping to prevent abuse. At the same time, the Pawn Shop offers instant sales and ensures that every player has equal access to the marketplace.
Does the Pawn Shop consume my Trade Limit?
No, because you're selling assets to the game, the Pawn Shop doesn't consume your Trade Limit.
Can you change the prices?
For the most part, Pawn Shop prices are not set manually. They are determined automatically based on an asset's market value.
There are also minimum and maximum price limits in place. These are mainly intended to protect the game from temporary bugs, although they may occasionally take effect during periods of unusually high inflation.
Can players manipulate the prices?
Players can overbid on listings in the Auction House to push prices higher. However, for heavily traded assets, it is unlikely that a single player can influence prices for long because of the large number of assets being traded and the amount of money required to keep overbidding.
If an asset's price rises above its normal level, more players will sell that asset to the Pawn Shop. This increases the number of those assets entering the Auction House, raising supply. Over time, the increased supply will cause prices to fall back down.
