Trade Limits

Gangster Nation Guide

Trade Limits are designed to minimise cheating on Gangster Nation. Although some players see Trade Limits as being restrictive, lower Trade Limits are a certain way to prevent certain types of cheating. The more support the community has for Trade Limits, the more we can reduce cheating.

Features where trade limits apply

How to check your current trade limits and usage

To check your current trade limits and usage, go to the Statistics tab of the Auction House or Trade Center screens.

Why are trade limits needed?

Trade limits help prevent cheating including:

Aside from this, trade limits also reduce the power someone can gain solely from other players, e.g. having many friends forward all earnings to one person. In some cases, people have had zombie accounts (friends barely playing the game to acquire certain assets) sending assets to them.

Why don't you just ban cheaters?

We do our best to identify and ban people who're cheating, however it's becoming increasingly difficult in today's world.

It's trivial for anyone to access multiple devices and internet connections. Improved privacy expectations, which are a positive overall, also make it more difficult to identify a specific device.

Real World Trading generally can't be proven without the players involved communicating in-game (or taking things to extremes which we've seen in the past with large networks of dupe accounts farming assets).

For these reasons, it's not as simple as banning people cheating. We ban the players we can catch in the act, but Trade Limits physically restict those we're unable to build evidence on, minimising the advantage anyone can gain from cheating, whether caught in the act or not.

How to avoid trade limits

You can sell assets in the Black Market for a fair market rate without consuming your trade limits.

Auctions with a black "Bid" button in the Auction House don't count towards your trade limits (these are the assets which have been sold to the Black Market in the previous days).

How to prevent someone wasting your trade limit

It's possible for someone to "waste" your trade limit, e.g. sending unwanted drugs to use up your drug limit.

To prevent this, go to the Settings screen (top right on mobile, bottom of main menu on desktop), then go to General, then change the "Automatically accept free gifts" setting.

How to prevent someone testing your trade limit

Another player may send you a small gift to see if you've reached your trade limit, e.g. to help determine your bullet stock.

To prevent this, go to the Settings screen (top right on mobile, bottom of main menu on desktop), then go to General, then change the "Automatically accept free gifts" setting.
